Livestock Loss Reduction Mitigation Board (Department of Livestock)

This is a new board created by the 2007 Montana Legislature to address economic losses due to wolf predation, and to create incentives for producers to take proactive, preventative steps to decrease the risk of loss. Specifically, the purpose of the program is to provide financial reimbursements to producers for losses caused by wolves based on program criteria and to proactively apply prevention tools and incentives to decrease the risk of wolf-caused losses. Three of the members are appointed by the governor from a list submitted by the Board of Livestock, three of the members are appointed from a list submitted by the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Commission, and one is a public member.
