Polls Shows Montanans Think its Time to Raise the Bar: Increase Renewable Energy in Montana
In a recent poll commissioned by MCVEF and its partners, we find that 3/4 Montanans support an increase in the state's renewable energy standard!
Join us at the 13th Annual Membership Meeting in Helena, on Saturday, March 10th, from 9:30 - 11:30am (UM Helena, 1114 N Roberts) to hear more about the poll results and their implications for our work.
In 2005, Montana passed a Renewable Energy Standard, sponsored by then state senator Jon Tester. The bill required regulated electric utilities like Northwestern and Montana Dakota Utility to acquire 15% of their energy resources from new, clean renewable resources like wind power by 2015. We are on target to meet the standard, and helped spur a new clean energy economy in Montana.
The recent poll shows 3/4 Montanans want to raise the bar - increasing the Renewable Energy Standard to require 25% of our energy from clean sources like wind by 2025.
