U.S. House votes to pass the National Landscape Conservation System Act...Rehberg Votes NO!

BLM's National Landscape Conservation System helps protect some of the nation's most remarkable and rugged landscapes. This just in:  In a vote of 278 to 140, the U.S. House of Representatives just passed the National Landscape Conservation System Act, which provides permanent statutory protection to the Department of Interior's National Landscape Conservation System, a 26 million-acre network of national monuments, scenic trails, and conservation and wildlife areas.

Why then, would Representative Dennis Rehberg vote against a straightforward bill that provides key protection to some of the nation's most important public lands and trails?

Ask him!  And please call on Rep. Rehberg to support the nation's publicly owned lands in future votes.

In a bipartisan effort 50 Republicans joined all House Democrats to support this important piece of legislation.  Even the Bush Administration got behind this according to Republicans for Environmental Protection - making Rehberg appear severly out-of-touch with land conservation efforts.
