Stand up for Healthy Air in Missoula!
The American Lung Association in Montana encourages you to join us Friday, Dec. 16, to visit the Missoula offices of Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester.
This a chance to speak up for a strong Clean Air Act, and to help prevent childhood asthma attacks and other health problems that result from air pollution.
Recently, some members of Congress have launched attacks on our clean air protections. They are siding with corporate polluters and ignoring public health.
Sens. Baucus and Tester have been strong supporters of the Clean Air Act. We need them to keep it up!
New rules that will limit emissions of mercury and other air toxics will be released by EPA very soon. We need to let our senators know to support these and other clean air provisions.
These new rules would annually help prevent:
- 17,000 premature deaths.
- 11,000 heart attacks.
- 120,000 childhood asthma attacks.
- 12,000 hospitalizations and emergency room visits.
Please join us to thank our senators for their past support and encourage them to stay strong!
We will visit the Missoula Baucus and Tester offices with the "coughing"
red baby carriage that is the symbol of the American Lung Association's Health Air campaign.

Meet us:
10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16 on Higgins Avenue in front of the former Missoula Macy's building, on the corner of Higgins and Front.
We will then walk to the nearby Tester and Baucus offices for short visits. This will be followed by a brief honk-and-wave in front of Rep. Denny Rehberg's office, encouraging him to reconsider his recent votes against healthy air.
