Montana leaders need to hear the call for leadership to move Montana and the country toward a clean energy economy. Ask our elected officials to:
- Repower, refuel and rebuild America by using the economic stimulus to invest in clean energy technologies like wind, solar and geothermal power
- Promote renewable energy in public buildings and homes by using energy-efficient technologies to cut costs and offset oil imports
- Invest in a more efficient - 'smart' - electricity transmission grid
- Help homeowners weatherize and retrofit their homes to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy use
- Promote smart appliances and alternative fuel and electric vehicle technologies
- Adopt tax policies that promote conservation and renewable energy measures
- Make meaningful reductions in heat-trapping emissions from the use of fossil fuels with clear timetables such as reducing emissions 20% below 2000 levels by 2020 and 80% below 2000 levels by 2050
- Demand that all polluters pay for pollution allowances through a market-based system
- Promote meaningful CAFE standards for vehicles
- Assist communities and states in developing ‘clean jobs' and moving towards energy independence
- Assist colleges and universities in their goal of reducing greenhouse gases, achieving climate neutrality, integrating energy sustainability into their curriculum, and enabling students to benefit from the economic opportunities of a clean energy future
