Thank you for standing up for Montana families
In this season of gratitude, we are thankful that Sen. Baucus is standing up for Safer Chemicals.
As you know, last week the Senate Environment and Public Works committee held the first ever hearing on the Safer Chemicals Act. This is an important step forward for passing common-sense protections for our kids and all consumers from toxic chemicals in everyday products.
U.S. Senator Max Baucus is a key member of the committee and had this to say about the Safer Chemicals bill:
"I have heard many times in recent years from Montanans who are passionate about improving chemical safety. Parents from across Montana, and mothers in particular, are worried about the products that surround their children. Congress should give EPA better tools to keep our families safe, including strong up-front requirements for obtaining data about chemicals and the ability to prioritize the risk of different chemicals." read Baucus' full statement here
Won't you take a moment and e-mail Max Baucus right now to thank him for standing up for Safer Chemicals?
Infertility, cancer, and learning disabilities are just some of the health problems linked to toxic chemicals that touch millions of American families. These chemicals are found in common household products, like cribs, baby bottles and carpets. Max Baucus and other Senators should know that Montana families are rooting for their success when they take this issue on!
Members of the Senate committee like Max Baucus have done something remarkable on this issue: they have undertaken an across-the-aisle dialogue on this issue that has created a rare bipartisan atmosphere on Capitol Hill. And they deserve our thanks.
With a lot of hard work and a little luck, we will pass the Safer Chemicals Act out of committee and on to the Senate floor before the end of the year.
Thanks for all that you do,
Sarah Cobler, Program Director
